New CDL Requirements Effective July 1, 2015

New federal requirements for commercial drivers go into effect on July 1, 2015, and the Illinois Secretary of State is implementing these changes for all Illinois CDL holders.  The changes are:

CDL Medical Card Reminder

New CDL Facility Opens In Rockford

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White recently announced the opening of the new, larger and more accessible Rockford CDL facility.  The new facility, located at 4734 Baxter Road, will better serve the public due to its easily accessible location to local expressways.  The new Rockford CDL facility serves truck, bus and passenger drivers and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

New Law Can Revoke DL

A new Illinois law aimed at reducing motor vehicular fatalities is on the books. From now on if a person is cited for certain traffic violations which resulted in a death, that person's driver's license can be revoked for up to one year by the Illinois Office of Secretary of State. New Requirement For HAZMAT Endorsement

Unified Carrier Registration FAQ for Farmers

SOS Office Requiring New Medical Card Certification

According to the Illinois Secretary of State Office, any person applying for a CDL for the first time and/or renewing their current CDL on or after January 30, 2012 must certify, for medical card purposes, with the Illinois Secretary of State's Office no later than January 30, 2014.  In order to self certify, applicants must appear at any of the Secretary of State's CDL facilities and certify one of the following four categories as part of the new medical card requirement.
